ABSTRACT: The environmental effects of existing mine works are c1early documented in the deposit area Augustin in the Malé Karpaty Mountains, Increased contents of electrolytes in water caused by mining activity affected practically the entire flow zone. Values of redox potential are subjected to permanent change depending on changing physical and chemical conditions in water which are contingent on actual reactions. In the part of stream laying under Augusti n mine the redox conditions are shifting from slightly oxidizing into strong oxidizing ones. The results of chemical analyses show us that the most important are contents of antimony and arsenic from locality Trojárová and contents of nickel, zinc, iron, manganese from locality below Augustin's mine and Ryhova's mine. The increased concentration of those minerals is considered significant feature of the waters originated from this area of the ore deposits. It can be stated that was not fulfilled the assumption of substantial in crease of sulphates content.
