ABSTRACT: Disposal of the goudrons from the former oil refinery Apollo began in Srdce quarry in 1963. A bank of soil was placed across the entrance to the quaIity and the goudrons were tipped behind this. The goudrons waste was overlain by 1 - 1,5 m of clay cap. The density of the goudrons deposits was less than of the clay cap. As a result, clay cap was sinking and goudrons have been expelled upward. In the present is surface longtimely "potted" by goudrons. From 1994 investigation works are carried within the Srdce quaIity. Among the most important works from hydrogeologic viewpoint belong regime observations, pumping, rising and recharge tests, electric coductivity and pH measurements. Samples of water were collected from boreholes, pools and lakes.
