Separation of runoff components using BILAN model in the Chvojnica river catchment

ABSTRACT: Separation of runoff components in Chvojnica catchment using hydrological model BILAN is presented in the paper. The model is suitable for modeling of individual runoff components and continual assessment of water balance elements formation during a certain time period. The average value of the overland flow was estimated on 0.03826 m3.s-1, the baseflow value (groundwater runoff) on 0.0696 m3.s-1 and the throughflow value on 0.05017 m3.s-1. The average value of the total runoff is 0.158 m3.s-1. The results were compared with the results of the Kille’s method with the groundwater runoff value of 0.057 m3.s-1. As it can be seen, results of groundwater runoff modeling gave higher value for the evaluated catchment, however, the difference in comparison with the value gained by the original method of Kille makes only 0.0126 m3.s-1. The advantage of modeling approach utilization is in non subjective procedure using the same system of relations and equations each time.
