ABSTRACT: Acid mine drainage (AMD) exists from the beginning of mining operations in the specific nature conditions and continues a long time even after termination of mining works. It interferes entirely ecosystem, from abiotic components of the environment to biotic organisms at the end of the food chain. This problem occurs in different forms also in the depo sit s without markedly acid mine drainage and it can be proved mainly by mobility of heavy metals and by their concentration in the river sediments and soiis. AMD evaluation en bloc, in all parts of the environment of AMD, exact definition of the problem, source and impact on parts of the environments is necessary for COlTect solution. On the basis of the mentioned knowledge we could propose some of active or passive remediation methods of AMD.
