ABSTRACT: This contribution is devoted to the problems of the impact of land subsidence on the geohydrodynamic systems of underground and surface waters, particularly in relationships to the possible influence on quality and quantity of pumped waters for public or individual supply. It deal with hydraulic conditions changes of water streams and shallow groundwater, including the alterations of aeration zone thickness as a result of land subsidence. It determines features of permanent and time-limited changes of hydrogeological structure and effectiveness of measures for their minimization (classification of sources from the point of view of protection, delineation of protection zanes for water resources, monitoring of effectiveness of measures). Case studies are presented from the Czech part of Upper Silesian Basin (OKR) - withdrawal areas Doubrava-Špluchov and Karviná-Staré Mesto.
