ABSTRACT: There are important groundwater sources connected with quartemary sediments in a form of gravels and sands in the southeastem part of Slovakia. The source near a village Boťany is one of the most important from the point of view of the long-lasting groundwater utilisation for drinking purposes. Some of the retrieval objects became depreciated as a result of its long-lasting utilisation and had to be replaced by a new boreholes. Conditions of the utilisation and protection of the groundwater source Boťany were re-evaluated, besi de the supplementary technical works. MathematicaI modelling methods were us ed to determine parameters of the exploitation and possibility of a pollution spreading, which is in these conditions of ten represented by oil pollution of the river Latorica.
