ABSTRACT: The study sets the basic statistical characteristics of potential and actual evapotranspiration on the territory of Slovakia. The monthly totals of evapotranspiration have been determined by means of the mathematicaI model developed at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Comenius University in Bratislava. The average monthly values of the air temperature and humidity, cloudiness, number of days with snow cover and precipitation for a period 1961 to 1990 were us ed as bas is material. Pertinent figures bring the outline of the spatial distribution of average annual totals of potential and actual evapotranspiration as well as annual totals for 25% and 75% of climatic security.
