ABSTRACT: Geological environmental pollution at the NPP A-1 site occurred in 1976/77 plant accidents and subsequent handling of radioactively contaminated material. The major NPP A-1 groundwater contaminant is the tritium 3H water molecule particle with <105 Bq/dm3 volumetric activity penetrating groundwater The threat of other radionuclides such as tritium to groundwater outside NPP Bohunice is eliminated and the main sources of contamination in the locality have been continuously remediated since 2000 by 6 dm3/s N-3 borehole pumping. This article utilizes the model developed for remediation of radioactively contaminated groundwater to provide calculated results for pollution risk analysis in the A-1 Bohunice nuclear power plant surrounds. Results detail pollution source characteristics, prognosis for remediation intervention and possible decontamination completion. Modelling results were thus utilized in site environmental risk assessment.
