ABSTRACT: This work is a summary of the geological survey of the environmental burden Poproč, with a focus on quality of groundwater and surface water in the area in relation to the assessment of risks. A separate part presents the results of an experimental mine water purification in situ of the adit Agnes at abandoned Sb deposits Poproč, which contains high concentrations of antimony and arsenic. Directly on the site was commissioned pilot reaction barrier with zerovalent iron (iron fillings), and simultaneously the sedimentation tank. Both pilot tanks remediation process were regularly monitored for 2 years, while these waters were sampled and evaluated their effectiveness. Geochemical barrier filled with iron chips achieved averaged antimony removal efficiency at 85 % and 77 % arsenic; sedimentation tank achieved removed efficiency Sb at 66 %, respectively 87 % for As.
